Summer Blitz Championship 2026

Mark your calendars for the fastest event on the ICCRL calendar!

The Summer Blitz Championship is the fastest and most dynamic event on the ICCRL calendar. Engines compete under blitz time controls where efficiency and time management are just as critical as raw strength.

Results from this event feed directly into the Summer Blitz rating list and highlight the top performers across all engine categories.

Event Details

Event Dates:June 15 - July 15, 2026
Registration Opens:April 1, 2026
Time Control:3 min + 2 sec increment (Blitz)

Event Highlights

  • All engines play a minimum of 400 blitz games
  • Open, Traditional, and Neural Network divisions tracked in parallel
  • Top 10 engines featured in the Summer Blitz spotlight
  • PGN archives published within 72 hours of event close

All engines compete together regardless of architecture

Traditional Division

Classical alpha-beta engines with hand-crafted evaluation

The ICCRL is pleased to announce the release of our December 2025 ratings update, marking another milestone in our ongoing mission to provide the most accurate and comprehensive computer chess engine ratings in the world.

Key Highlights

  • Stockfish 17 maintains its dominant position at the top of the ratings with an impressive score of 3642 Elo, gaining 12 points from last month's update.
  • Gillespie 7.3.0 makes a significant jump to 3rd place with 3637 Elo, showcasing remarkable improvements in tactical play.
  • Torch v4 64-bit 4CPU maintains its position in the top 5 at 3634 Elo, though dropping 3 points.

Looking Ahead

The January 2026 rating update is scheduled for January 15th and will include results from the upcoming Winter Rapid Championship. Engine developers are encouraged to submit new versions before January 5th to ensure inclusion in the next cycle.
